It was refreshing to see in a recent article on PublicTechnology.net that Cornwall Council acknowledges the importance of creating a single citizen view in order to move closer to fully supporting their citizens and enabling a more satisfying citizen experience.

Whilst Cornwall Council has had a less than straightforward experience with its outsourcing partner BT, an encouraging outcome is the opportunity to take stock and identify not only what is important but also what is possible.

Councils are realising that data is another essential service and that the assets held within will provide the citizens with many benefits – and the Councils with significant cost savings. Equally, there is an acknowledgement that this is not breaking new ground, but providing more education and evidence of the benefits of a view of the citizen.
